Scotland’s food and drink comes from unspoilt habitats and varied weather, which are perfect for producing a wide variety of high quality fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and much more. See ‘local suppliers’ below for a summary list of the provenance of the produce used in our menus, where possible and in season.

We take the utmost care to ensure that all dietary requests are accommodated when staying at Abbot’s Tower.

Meat

Mogerleys The Butcher, Dumfries: a family run business situated in the historic town, established since 1876 making them one of the oldest working butchers in Scotland!

Fruit, Vegetables and Dairy

Loch Arthur, Beeswing: our local creamery and farm shop is situated just 5 miles up the road. Their organic fruit and vegetables are grown in their walled garden, greenhouses and vegetable fields. We have chosen our favourites from their selection of award winning organic Scottish cheeses for our supper cheese board. Plus their delicious organic granola (on our breakfast menu) is world famous!

Eggs

Mrs McMyn’s organic free-range eggs, New Abbey: Mrs McMyn’s brown hens roam freely on five acres of land. This helps them lay the best organic, free range eggs.

Fish

Barony Country Foods, Lochmaben: award winning smoked Scottish salmon from this local high quality producer using an age old process in their small, traditional smokehouse.

The Abbot’s Tower is full of beautiful history. The bedrooms are incredible and our experience was made so memorable by Laura & Scott, who are thoughtful and charismatic hosts. The area around the tower is stunning with some beautiful walks and idyllic local pubs. You won’t want to go far though as Laura and Scott’s cooking is worth sticking around for. We would highly recommend Abbot’s Tower to everyone.
